"Stop thinking about it" gets a bad rap in OCD circles — and rightfully so when people mean it as thought stopping, because that's impossible. But there's a distinction worth making. You can't prevent a thought from appearing, but you absolutely can direct your conscious attention elsewhere. That's thinking stopping — and that's actually one of the most powerful tools you have. OCD is the distraction. Everything else is your life. 💙
